Description
The School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), Division of Music invites applications for Sessional Instructors to teach the following course(s) in the Winter 2026.
The Winter 2026 term runs from January 5 to April 30, 2026, Individual course dates are noted below; please see the academic schedule for additional important dates and deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least a master’s degree in Music and/or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience teaching brass instruments (successful candidate will only be required for half of the semester), or experience teaching percussion instruments (successful candidate will only be required for half of the semester)
  • Experience teaching music in the schools at either the elementary or secondary level
  • Significant teaching experience and demonstrated ability to deliver curriculum at the post-secondary level

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Doctoral degree in music and/or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong aural and rhythmic skills and knowledge of soflège systems.
  • Significant experience with performative improvisation.
  • Keyboard skills are a strong asset.
  • Significant teaching experience and demonstrated ability to deliver curriculum at the post-secondary level. Experience supervising and mentoring graduate student assistants.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Doctoral degree in Music with a specialization in Music History and/or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver a music history curriculum at the post-secondary level to students from a wide variety of backgrounds.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Doctoral degree in Music with a specialization in Composition and/or equivalent professional experience
  • A portfolio demonstrating a record of excellence as a composer.
  • Significant teaching experience in both the classroom and in private lessons
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver a conducting curriculum at the post-secondary level to students from a wide variety of backgrounds.
