QUALIFICATIONS:

In addition to the Required Education, Required Skills, and Required Experience set out below, the successful candidate will have a proven aptitude for teaching at the undergraduate level, with demonstrated potential for making excellent contributions to teaching.
Candidates will be required to certify that they are currently, and will be for the duration of the contract, legally eligible to work in Canada.
Note that this course will be delivered in-person at Ontario Tech University’s North Campus in Oshawa, Ontario.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Hold a graduate in Business, Information Systems, Business Analytics; or a directly related field
  • Have a demonstrated high level of prior experience with Databases, Data Warehouses and Business Intelligence. Candidates can demonstrate their experience by providing details about their teaching experience in this area; their research in this area; and/or professional work in this field

REQUIRED SKILLS

The successful candidate will have the following technical skills:

  • Extensive knowledge with analytics applications such as Excel, Tableau, Python, R, Power BI, Cognos, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAS Viya, or Enterprise Miner
  • Experience with Enterprise Database Management systems such as SQL, Oracle, SAP HANA, Teradata or Snowflake
  • Familiarity with the academic programs and instructor resources from major vendors such as SAP University Alliances, Teradata University Network, IBM Academic Initiative, and SAS Academic Programs

The successful candidate will have the following teaching and administrative skills:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to respond to student enquiries and to grade assignments and exams in a timely manner
  • High level of comfort with interacting with students and colleagues using online modalities such as Google Meets and Kaltura
  • Ability to manage a course effectively using a Learning Management System
  • An ability to develop innovative and inclusive teaching strategies
  • An ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural and diverse community

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated teaching excellence in a commerce program in a post-secondary environment. Candidates can demonstrate their competence by submitting course evaluations and/or formal peer evaluations.
    Priority will be given to an Internal Applicant who has taught any course for the University in three (3) different sessions in the past thirty-six (36) months, provided they meet the requirements for the position as outlined in the job posting.
