Harper Adams University is seeking to appoint Sessional Lecturers to join the new digital skills, enterprise and innovation hub based in the heart of Telford, Shropshire.
As a Sessional Lecturer you will have an integral role within Harper Adams University’s delivery of academic programmes, short course and professional development courses supporting our learners’ journey to success.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a diverse range of academic and technical backgrounds with business and industry experience to teach and develop new academic, technical and professional courses, specifically within the disciplines of:

  • Data Science (Programming Concepts, Python, Data Analytics & Visualisation, Generative AI, ML, Deep Learning, Ethics etc.)
  • Business / Agribusiness (Strategy, Operations, Marketing, Human Resources, Project Management, Business Intelligence but also in Agribusiness in a rural and agricultural setting)
  • Digital Business (Data Management, Cyber Security, Analytics, Blockchain, Crypto, Digital Banking, AI, ERP, Web 3.0, Digital Transformation etc.)
  • Project Management (APM or PMI, Generative AI, Soft Skills, Resource Management, Project Scheduling, Scrum, Tracking, Digital Tools, Leadership, etc.)
  • Robotics (Manipulators & Effectors, Automation, Embedded Computing, Programming, Actuation & Sensor Systems, Sensing, Perception, Guidance, Navigation, Human-Machine Interface etc.)
  • Automation (Low-Code & Codeless Automation, AI & ML, IoT, PLCs, Edge Computing, Modbus, SCADA, Data Connectivity, Testing, Security, RPA, Edge Computing etc.)
  • Artificial Intelligence (Computer Vision, Ethics, NLP, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Security, IoT, Legislation, Applications, Generative AI, Chatbots etc.)
  • Digital Supply Chain Management (Cybersecurity, API Integration, Cloud-Based Systems, EDI, ERP, IoT, ecommerce, Automation, Inventory Management)

Sessional Lecturers will combine professional experience, academic and technical knowledge as well as deep understanding of current industry trends and practice. You will bring dynamism with the ability to inspire our learners and experience to facilitate a high-quality learning environment. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about teaching, learner focused and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work flexibly.
The successful candidates will have experience delivering face-to-face and blended teaching approaches as well as with supporting learners studying at all levels. Industry experience is desirable as is experience with online learning environments.

Responsibilities

Sessional Lecturers will contribute to Harper Adams University, Telford hub by:

  • Support in the delivering of teaching on a module, short course or professional development programme.
  • Develop own teaching materials and courseware where required.
  • Undertake the planning, design and development of teaching materials.
  • Liaise with colleagues to develop and offer new technology, engineering or business focused modules and short courses.
  • Ensure that the learner experience is of a high quality of teaching and delivered through a variety of innovative learning and teaching modes and mechanisms.
  • Adhere and comply to the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act and in accordance with the University’s policy on health and safety.
  • Undertake all duties and responsibilities in compliance with the rules and regulations encompassing equal opportunities and data protection, always maintaining confidentiality.
  • Adhere, comply and work in accordance with university policies, procedures and codes of conduct.
  • Actively participate in on-going professional development activities as requested.
  • Complete administration activities to support the hub as required.
