Description

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Setting Out Engineer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring site works are delivered to the highest standards. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Full ownership of setting out on site — line, level, and dimensions across all elements of the project
  • Accurate surveying and control: Carrying out topographical and level surveys pre-start and during the build
  • Working closely with project and design teams to check layouts and ensure boundaries are correct
  • Maintaining and updating construction drawings, registers, and digital records
  • Using Leica total stations (TS06 / TS12 / TS16) confidently for all site engineering tasks
  • Taking off and ordering materials for groundwork and RC frame (including rebar, waterproofing, drainage, cast-in items, concrete, etc.)
  • Identifying and resolving setting out issues and managing RFIs and technical queries
  • Supporting the QA process using FlowForma and implementing site Inspection Test Plans
  • Preparing and issuing as-builts, maintaining accurate records, and supporting commercial teams with QS data
  • Raising technical submittals and ensuring compliance with project specifications
  • Producing and working with CAD drawings where required

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong technical setting out skills and a methodical, accurate approach to your work
  • Experience working with Leica EDM equipment
  • Able to manage your own workload and take responsibility for surveying and site engineering delivery
  • A problem-solver who is proactive in closing out issues
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and specifications
  • Proficient in record keeping, QA documentation, and as-builts

Desirable Qualities:

  • Keen to progress your career and grow into senior site roles
  • A team player who contributes to project delivery and works well with other trades

Other Requirements:

CSCS ENGINEERING/SURVEYING OR EQUIVALENT QUALIFICATION

  • Punctual and dependable with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Willing to complete IT induction and training within the first 1–3 months
If you’re looking for a role where your expertise as a Setting Out Engineer is valued and where you’ll be given the autonomy to lead on technical delivery, we’d like to hear from you
