JOB CLASSIFICATION: Settlement Worker - Community Services (Canada Summer Jobs) - 2 Positions PROGRAM: Newcomer Services COMPANY: Skills for Change  LOCATION: 1345 St. Clair Ave West, Toronto ON REPORTS TO: Manager, Newcomer Services CONTRACT TYPE: Contract (8 weeks) HOURS: 35 hours per week (Monday- Friday, with occasional evening and/or weekend hours) RATE: $ 17.60 START DATE: May 19, 2025 END DATE: July 14, 2025 APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open until filled  GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY: With 42 years of operations, Skills for Change is a highly respected non-profit charity with a province wide reputation for pioneering programs that respond to shifting immigration and workplace trends and lead to employment. We offer a range of accelerated programs including mentoring, employment, settlement, language training together with specialized programs for skilled trades, women, and youth. We have 5 locations across the GTA and serve 16,000 clients annually. We believe we are in the best position to provide thought leadership through evidence-based programming, impact stories and proactive policy advocacy using knowledge mobilization products.   The Settlement Worker - Community Services will… SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES: * Assist Staff with Workshop Coordination and Delivery.  * Support the planning, preparation, and facilitation of newcomer workshops, ensuring smooth execution and participant engagement. Participate in Community Events for Newcomers.  * Represent the organization at local events across the city, helping to promote programs and connect newcomers with available resources.  * Provide Administrative Support.  * Handle general administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and responding to inquiries to maintain efficient program operations. Update and Maintain Client Database.  * Ensure accurate and timely entry of client information, maintain confidentiality, and generate reports as needed.  * Develop Marketing and Promotional Materials. Create flyers, social media content, and other outreach materials to promote newcomer programs and events. * Develop Marketing Content Reflecting Newcomer Success Stories for Social Media.  * Collect and highlight inspiring newcomer success stories to create engaging posts that showcase program impact and foster community engagement.  REQUIREMENTS: * College diploma in Social Service Worker or a related field; * And/or currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution; * Applicants must have reached the age of 15 and not yet reached the age of 30 upon commencement of employment.  * Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment. * International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program * Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Responsibilities
