QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge: Program/project development, community development, documentation of services and diversity, standard office equipment; case management, and specific knowledge related to the function or the focus of the program, project, or service
Experience: At least 2 years of experience working in community development, settlement, and/or employment programs; implementing policies and procedures, work with immigrant populations and/or diverse cultural backgrounds, and/or comparable education or other program, project or focus specialties
Education/ Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services, Humanities, or Counselling or a related field, or high school completion and a certificate or diploma or course work in related fields, or a combination of training and experience in an area related to the program, project, or service.

Skills/ Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Fluency (verbal and written) in an additional language (due to client needs, Farsi, Arabic, Tigrinya, and Spanish are preferred)
  • Advocacy with client-centered approach
  • Able to work independently and with a team
  • Presentation, workshop, and facilitation skills both in-person and online
  • MS Office suite, publishing software, database. OCMS knowledge and experience an asset
  • Customer service skills
  • Cultural sensitivity and cross-cultural counselling skills
  • Organized, able to set priorities, multitask and meet deadlines
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Tactful, discrete, diplomatic, patient, flexible
  • Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, bending, and ability to lift 10 k.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one detailed needs assessment and referrals, information and orientation, group orientation and information, guided pathway support, community connections, client outreach, service bridging, resource development, and delivery assistance to eligible clients
  • Assists in identifying clients’ needs and supports clients to independently access community resource
  • Provides one-on-one basic employment related information, support, and referrals;
  • Providing basic information about the labour market, job search tools, and referrals to available programs
  • Assist clients in credential accreditation
  • Stay informed of current resources, trends, needs, changes, and service gaps in the general community, and in specific ethno-cultural minority communities, in addition to programs and services at MOSAIC
  • Accurately enter client information and services/activity information into OCMS in a timely manner
  • Meets minimum number of unique clients per week and program specific clients per month as assigned by the manager as part of the Funding Contract Agreement
  • May develop individual Work Plans showing action plan/timelines to meet unique client caseload, service objectives, output, and outcomes
  • Assist manager in development of Settlement Services and partnerships with service providers
  • Mobilize community resources and facilitate the involvement of community participants in accessing services
  • Develop an outreach plan/strategy to proactively deliver services to newcomers, and represent MOSAIC in the community to advocate for newcomers’ needs
  • Publicize MOSAIC programs/services to ethno-cultural minority communities and service providers
  • As requested by the manager, represent MOSAIC or the interests of the ethno-cultural minority community on community forums and consultation
  • Prepares reports as needed for the organization and funder of all activities and services
  • Other duties, as assigned by the manager
