AMSANT is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services in the Northern Territory and advocates for equity in health, focusing on supporting the provision of high quality comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal communities.

Responsibilities

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

This position will work closely with the Suicide Story Aboriginal Advisory Group (SSAAG) and the SEWB Team to coordinate the delivery of the Suicide Story program and respective projects and activities that deliver culturally responsive suicide prevention training and capacity building to Aboriginal communities and service providers in the Northern Territory.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain a collaborative and outcome-oriented partnership between AMSANT and the Suicide Story Aboriginal Advisory Group (SSAAG) through the coordination of scheduled SSAAG meetings and actioning items as required.
  • Coordinate Suicide Story project workshops and activities in collaboration with SSAAG to ensure it is achieving contractual obligations and program outcomes. This includes documenting of workshops, reporting on funding deliverables and other relevant activities.
  • Promote and support the delivery of Suicide Story Program through stakeholder engagement and building relationships with the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS), community leaders and key organisations across the NT.
  • Support the Suicide Story Facilitators to ensure they are prepared and able to deliver workshops in community in a culturally safe and appropriate manner.
  • Coordinate the Train the Trainer workshops and provide any other supports required to build and retain the pool of Aboriginal Facilitators engaged to deliver the Suicide Story workshops.
  • Provide advice on emerging issues and strategic opportunities that can support the objectives of the Suicide Story program and partnership between AMSANT and SSAAG by developing project plans, providing written reports and other high-quality documents as required.
  • Where required facilitate training such as Suicide Story and other SEWB training programs.
  • Be an active team member to work collaboratively within the AMSANT SEWB team to contribute to appropriate team activities and supports as required.
  • Undertake other tasks as required by SEWB Manager.
  • Attend AMSANT meetings and other meetings related to your role as required.
