Description
Description This is a full-time, direct placement role at UnWrapped Inc. Job Title: Sewing Factory Engineer Location: 25 Rock Street, Lower, MA 11232 Employment Type: Full-time Compensation: Pay based on experience. Full benefits offered. About Us: UnWrapped, Inc. is a fast-paced, “get-it-done” contract production sewing factory, with a workforce of approx. 75 highly skilled operators. We work on diverse product lines — from combat gloves and medical elastic bandages to table linens and industrial covers. We are proud of our “Made in the USA” heritage and our commitment to quality, loyalty, dependability, and being the best contract sewing factory still in America. Role Summary: We are looking for a Sewing Factory Engineer to drive production efficiency, quality and process improvement in our sewing-operations factory environment. The role will support new production line start-ups, tuning sewing processes, tooling and work-station design, and continuous improvement of throughput, cost, quality and safety. You will serve as the engineering link between product design, production operations, and the shop floor team. Key Responsibilities: • Lead the setup and start-up of new sewing production lines (for new products or new customers) — including layout, tooling selection, operator training and initial ramp-up. •Analyze current sewing processes (machine types, work-stations, stitching sequences, operator motions) to identify opportunities for process improvement: reduced cycle times, improved yield, minimized defects, ergonomics and safety. • Work with operations management and lead operators to design and implement standard work instructions, operator job aids, and workstation layouts. • Select, specify or adapt sewing machines, attachments, fixtures, and ancillary equipment to meet product and production requirements (e.g., specialized clamps, feeders, guides, servo drives, etc.). • Collaborate with quality control, inspection and engineering to investigate root-causes of quality issues (stitch defects, material handling issues, dimensional non-conformities, etc.) and implement corrective & preventive actions. • Maintain and update factory process documentation: sewing line flows, machine parameters, tooling setups, stitch recipes, job changeovers, etc. • Conduct time-study, capacity analysis, and engineering cost-of-manufacturing evaluations to support production planning, resource allocation, and investment decisions. • Provide training and technical support to sewing operators, supervisors and maintenance teams, enabling robust change-over, operator cross-training and continuous improvement culture. • Work with maintenance/engineering teams to ensure sewing machines and equipment are maintained, calibrated and optimized for uptime, reliability and product quality. • Support safety, ergonomics and housekeeping standards in the sewing area; recommend improvements to reduce operator fatigue, risk of injury or repetitive stress. • Keep up to date with sewing technologies, tooling innovations, automation (where applicable) and best practices in contract sewing manufacturing. Benefits: • Full benefits package (health, dental, vision, retirement plan, etc.) • Competitive pay based on experience • Opportunity to work in a dynamic, growing contract sewing factory with a mission of being the best in America • Hands-on engineering role bridging design, production and industrial sewing Why Join Us: At UnWrapped, Inc., you’ll join a team of dedicated stitchers and production professionals who get things done. You’ll have the chance to make a real impact on factory operations, helping launch new product lines, optimize processes, and contribute to the factory’s success and growth. If you thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, enjoy engineering problem-solving and want to be part of a proud American-made production story — this is the role for you. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field — or equivalent practical experience in a sewing/garment/textile manufacturing environment. • Proven experience (3-5+ years, or more) in a manufacturing engineering role supporting sewing operations, preferably in contract manufacturing, textiles, apparel, technical textiles or industrial sewn products. • Strong knowledge of sewing machines (lockstitch, chainstitch, overlock/serger, zig-zag, etc.), work-station tooling, attachments, jigs and fixtures. • Experience in process improvement, standard work, operator training, time-study/capacity analysis and root cause investigation in a sewing production environment. • Ability to read product specs, engineering drawings, customer requirements and translate them into production process parameters and equipment requirements. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to “get hands dirty” on the floor, observe operator motion, machine interaction, and translate into engineering improvements. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: you’ll work with production teams, maintenance, quality, and customers. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and ideally some familiarity with time-study/capacity analysis or simulation tools. CAD or drawing reading skills a plus. • Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, safety and “Made in the USA” manufacturing culture.
Responsibilities
The Sewing Factory Engineer will drive production efficiency, quality, and process improvement in the sewing operations factory. Responsibilities include leading new production line setups, analyzing current processes for improvements, and collaborating with various teams to enhance production outcomes.
