About the Sexual Health Team at G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Center: The Sexual Health Rehabilitation Service at G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre is a team of rehabilitation nurses who specialize in sexual health and disability. Working alongside a doctor and other community resources offering education and support to improve sexual wellness in a confidential setting. As a Sexual Health Clinician with VCH you will: Work within the context of a client and family centred care model and in accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice for registered nurses and midwives, code of ethics and the established mission, vision, values, objectives and policies of Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre (VHHSC) and Sexual Health Rehabilitation Service. Provide direct care to clients and family members in the assessment and management of sexual concerns in the area of disability. Consult, confer, and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, educational resources, and other health care professionals/providers to achieve excellence in client centred care, education and research. Qualifications Education & Experience Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) Three (3) years' recent related experience and certification as a Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family centred model of care. Comprehensive knowledge of the standards of practice and code of ethics of the BCCNM. Comprehensive knowledge of evidence based nursing practice related to rehabilitation Comprehensive knowledge of theories and systems of family dynamics. Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care. Comprehensive knowledge of rehabilitation team process. Broad knowledge of research process and methodology. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and role model best practice. Demonstrated ability to teach, coach and facilitate team members. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to communicate with, and work effectively with co-workers, other health care staff, clients and their families, both one-on-one and in groups. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with conflict situations. Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in collaboration with others. Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position. Demonstrated skill in the use of medical equipment and supplies. Demonstrated skill in techniques appropriate to the clinical area. Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques. Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized patient care information system. Demonstrated presentation skills.
