Description Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to the Student Government Association (SGA) of the institution. Assist student leaders in their efforts to represent and serve the student body Manage budgets, plan events, and advocate for student needs. Ensure that the SGA operates in accordance with Center policies and regulations Maintains discipline, cleanliness and inventory control in assigned areas. Projects a positive self-image and encourages enthusiastic participation in SGA Serves as a member of the Leisure Learning Committee and reports progress of activities to the committee. Serve as a mentor and resource for SGA officers and members. Provide guidance on leadership development, parliamentary procedure, and effective communication. Assist in the resolution of conflicts or issues within the SGA. Help plan and organize SGA meetings, including agenda development. Maintain records and documentation related to SGA activities and decisions. Foster a sense of community and inclusivity within the SGA and among students. Organize leadership training workshops and retreats for SGA members. Keep abreast of best practices in student government and share relevant information with the SGA. Encourage collaboration between the SGA and other student organizations. Follows CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily. Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures. Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices. Models, mentors, monitors appropriate Career Success Standards. Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement. Participates in PRH mandated staff training. Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Associate of Arts Degree, preferably in a related field. Minimum of one to three years related experience and/or training. Experience in student affairs, student leadership, or a related field. Knowledge of student government processes and governance structures. Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students and staff. Understanding of student development and leadership theory. Valid State Driver’s License
Responsibilities
The SGA Advisor provides guidance and support to the Student Government Association, assisting student leaders in representing the student body and managing SGA operations. They also mentor SGA officers, organize meetings, and foster community among students.
