The role The School of Government and International Affairs is seeking 4 student ambassadors (2 at Postgraduate level and 2 at Undergraduate level) to encourage those who have offers to study with us to pick Durham University. To do this we'll be asking the ambassadors to: · Undertake monthly Zoom drop-in sessions at different times across months. This will account for the different time zones we receive applications from. Offer holders will be able to sign-up for 10-15min slots to speak to a current student about Durham, the university, and the programme. · Chat with prospective students on Unibuddy. · Support Programme and School-level conversion activities. The below role descriptor seeks to capture the main requirements of the role consistently, providing a summary of the key duties of the flexible role to help in setting expectations for applicants, flexible workers and line managers. They are not intended to cover all duties which may be required. RoleResponsibilities Ambassador (including Durham Student Ambassador and PG Ambassador) Casual rate Those carrying out this work are likely to be allocated some of the below tasks only. Under instruction and following appropriate training: Assist with outreach activities such as residential events for prospective students, usually during the Easter and Summer vacation period Provide mentoring to prospective students Assist with recruitment events such as open days, higher education fairs or taster sessions Act as a Discover Durham tour guide Assist with off-site school/college visits Assist with online events Respond to questions from prospective students Respond to allocated messages via the UniBuddy online chat forum Undertake digital engagement as requested e.g. blogs and vlogs Escalate queries to supervision where appropriate Requirements · both UK and international students are encouraged to apply · very good English language skills will be required for this role (both spoken and written) · Applicants must be SGIA PG or single-honours UG students - please confirm on your CV which of this applies. · We are seeking applicants who are independent, pro-active, and trustworthy. · We welcome and encourage applications from members of groups who are under-represented in our work force including people with disabilities, women and black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.
