Job Description:
The Sexual Harm Acute Response & Empowerment (SHARE) Advocate provides advocacy-based counseling to students in regards to sexual, gender and relationship harm (referred to henceforth as interpersonal violence) based on a model that identifies the interplay of power, privilege and oppression and seeks to address the roots of interpersonal violence. The advocate will work with a diverse and multidisciplinary team of colleagues in providing these services and collaborate across many departments.
This position is expected to be in place for approximately 4 months (September – December) and will work 15-18 hours per week.
Job Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Independently licensed (or license eligible) mental health clinician (required):
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
  • Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Comparable licensure
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred, can be inclusive of relevant graduate-level fieldwork experience.

Job Competencies:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of interpersonal violence, trauma-based approaches to advocacy, and the ability to provide flexible support to primary and secondary survivors of interpersonal violence.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in complex, sensitive situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work with a diverse population of students and colleagues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to conduct educational programs and training workshops.
  • Familiarity with restorative and anti-oppression theories and practices preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills; experience with use of electronic medical records preferred.
  • Commitment to working regular on-call shifts including nights and weekends.
