Description

We are seeking a Sheepskin Classer to join our sheepskin salting tannery. The successful candidate will be responsible for classifying sheepskins to industry standards or specific market requirements, ensuring that our products meet the highest quality expectations for our overseas clients.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, and test green sheepskins for size, cleanliness, colour, markings, and quality, and classify them into lots for fellmongering, drying, salting, or tanning.
  • Inspect and sort dried or salted sheepskins for baling or tanning.
  • Inspect hides or tanned sheepskins for thickness, size, and quality, and sort into lots for further tanning or dispatch
  • Handle sheepskins during the grading process.
  • Maintain accurate records of graded batches for traceability.
  • Ensure consistency and quality across all graded sheepskins.
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure smooth workflow from salting to grading.
  • Comply with workplace health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Direct assistants in tasks such as drying, stacking, folding, baling, and the collection and laying out of sheepskins.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety procedures.
  • Other works required by the manager.
