Description We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Sheet Line Operator to take a hands-on leadership role in our high-throughput plastic sheet extrusion operations. This individual will be responsible for overseeing daily production activities, maintaining high standards for safety and quality, and mentoring other operators. With at least 3+ years of relevant experience, the ideal candidate demonstrates strong operational knowledge, leadership capability, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Role and Responsibilities / Essential Functions Team Leadership: Guide and support a team of sheet line operators, ensuring efficient operation of extrusion lines and fostering a culture of safety and quality. Equipment Operation: Set up and run plastic sheet forming lines with expert-level proficiency, optimizing productivity while minimizing downtime. Quality Assurance: Conduct regular quality checks and audits to ensure all products meet or exceed internal and customer specifications. Troubleshooting & Adjustments: Diagnose and resolve process issues by adjusting machine settings such as speed, pressure, and temperature. Production Oversight: Coordinate production changes such as color and size swaps according to the schedule; ensure smooth transitions. Documentation & Reporting: Accurately document production metrics and report safety incidents, quality deviations, and performance concerns. Training & Development: Train new and junior operators on standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and quality standards. Preventative Maintenance: Conduct and oversee routine maintenance, including cleaning rollers and using mobile safety steps. Continuous Improvement: Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and output. Requirements Required Skills / Abilities / Competencies • Strong mechanical aptitude and operational understanding of plastic extrusion equipment. • Proficient in using precision tools such as digital calipers and tape measures. • Ability to read technical drawings, pressure gauges, and operating instructions. • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Effective communication skills for team coordination and reporting. • Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting. • Must pass a color blindness test. Education and Experience • High school diploma or GED required. • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or extrusion environment. • Previous leadership or mentorship experience in a production setting is highly preferred. Mental/Physical Requirements • Mobility: Frequent standing, stooping, kneeling, and bending are required. • Lifting Capability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs using proper lifting techniques. • Footwear: Must own steel-toed boots for safety compliance. • Temperature Tolerance: Must be able to work in high-heat conditions.
Responsibilities
