Sheet metal workers select the gauge and type of sheet metal according to the product being fabricated and their knowledge of metals and their properties. What you need to qualify: Prior experience as a Machine Operator is preferred. Sheet metal apprentice applicants must have a high school diploma or its equivalent, and must meet the required norms on aptitude tests. You can stand out above other candidates by demonstrating the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, displaying basic mechanical skills, and having good problem-solving skills.
