OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sheet Metal Worker/Shop Hand to join our fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have experience in sheet metal fabrication, installation, and general shop duties. This role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; training in sheet metal work or manufacturing is a plus.
  • 1-2 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, manufacturing, or a related hands-on role (entry-level candidates with strong work ethic encouraged to apply).
  • Basic knowledge of sheet metal materials (e.g., steel, aluminum, stainless steel) and fabrication processes.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic shop equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, basic blueprints, or technical instructions.
  • Physical ability to lift [Insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs], stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Team player with good communication skills and a willingness to learn.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with press brakes, shears, or other sheet metal machinery.
  • Basic welding or grinding experience.
  • Forklift operation or material handling experience (certification a plus).

Responsibilities
  • Assist in fabricating, forming, and assembling sheet metal parts using tools such as shears, press brakes, and rollers.
  • Read and follow basic blueprints, work orders, or verbal instructions to produce parts to specifications.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and light machinery (e.g., grinders, drills, saws) for cutting, shaping, and finishing metal.
  • Support machine operators by preparing materials, setting up workstations, and loading/unloading sheet metal.
  • Perform basic quality checks using measuring tools (e.g., tape measures, calipers) to ensure parts meet standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop, including sweeping, disposing of scrap, and storing materials properly.
  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving and organizing raw materials.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with team members, including fabricators, welders, and supervisors, to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment as needed.
