Description The Sheetmetal Shop Foreman is to lead and oversee the fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of sheet metal components for commercial and industrial construction projects. This role is responsible for supervising and coordinating shop and field operations, ensuring quality workmanship, safety compliance, and efficient project execution. Requirements RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Supervise and coordinate daily activities of sheet metal craft personnel, ensuring productivity, safety, and adherence to project timelines. Plan, schedule, and allocate resources (labor, tools, materials) according to project requirements. Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, submittals, and job orders to create material take-offs, layouts, and schematic/isometric sketches. Conduct routine inspections of work in progress and completed tasks to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards. Provide hands-on support and leadership, including mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to sheet metal workers. Ensure all personnel certifications are up to date and appropriate for assigned tasks. Identify and resolve conflicts or discrepancies in contract documents or construction plans. Promote and enforce company safety protocols; actively identify and eliminate jobsite hazards. Coordinate delivery, placement, and storage of materials, equipment, and tools to optimize workflow. Verify that all received materials and equipment meet the approved specifications and submittals. Maintain inventory of assigned tools and assist with tool control procedures. Step in with tools as needed to meet construction demands or address schedule bottlenecks. Perform other duties as assigned by project management or operations leadership. Qualifications: 4 years of relevant experience in the sheet metal, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role. Technical training or Associate’s Degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred. Proven leadership experience in a construction or manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of construction practices, sheet metal fabrication, equipment usage, and OSHA regulations. Familiarity with electrical and hydraulic systems related to sheet metal installations. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Must be willing and able to work in high-temperature environments. Work Conditions: This role involves outdoor work, exposure to heights, and physically demanding conditions. Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing ladders, and operating power tools or machinery. Occasional use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, goggles, and respirators is required.
