Description Are you passionate about supporting animal welfare behind the scenes? We're looking for a dedicated full-time Shelter Assistant to help keep our operations running smoothly. In this hands-on role, you'll prep food and enrichment items, organize supplies, assist with cleaning and sanitation, and support teams across the shelter, all while contributing to a compassionate environment for animals in need. Purpose of Position: This position provides support to shelter operations by completing assigned cleaning and organizing duties in non-animal areas; prepping food and enrichment supplies; stocking and maintaining organization of equipment and supplies throughout the shelter. This position will also assist other operations departments as needed and as assigned by the manager/team leader. Responsibilities Assist with laundry, dishes, cage wash, and cleaning of non-animal areas. Interact with all departments and assist with additional services such as deep cleaning, contagion exposure cleaning, and dish washing. Monitor, organize, and maintain food, supplies, and cleanliness of all food prep and storage areas. Perform supply inventory and assist with maintenance of equipment. Prep and maintain enrichment items. Organize and maintain donations as they are received. Organize and maintain supply organization and cleanliness of the order receiving area. Compensation: Starting at $20.00 - $20.90 per hour (starting pay commensurate with market, experience, and equity) Work Conditions and Physical Requirements Handle and restrain animals of various sizes, weights, and temperaments. Subject to animal bites or scratches. Work performed in high noise level areas. Potentially prolonged periods of sitting and repetitive motion. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, animal dander, and feces. Physical efforts require constant bending, stooping, standing, and walking, Frequent lifting of animals and objects up to 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodation and occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. with reasonable accommodation. Will be exposed to the elements (cold, rain, etc.) while performing duties outside. Will be required to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays as business operations demand. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: None Desired Experience working with and handling animals in a shelter or similar environment Experience in a veterinary setting If driving a company vehicle, valid driver’s license with insurable driving record
