Work Location: Martinez, CA Employment Details: Full Time, Non Exempt Schedule: Must be available to work 1 weekend day from 10:30 AM- 7 PM and on Thursdays from 10:30 AM- 7PM The other 3 workdays the shift is 12 PM-8:30 PM Compensation: $25-27/hour About the role: We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Shelter Lead I to help ensure the safe, efficient, and welcoming operation of our shelter program. This role provides day-to-day guidance to Shelter Attendants, supports guest services, and helps maintain a trauma-informed environment for individuals experiencing homelessness. What you’ll do: Support daily shelter operations and ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment. Provide operational guidance and support to Shelter Attendants during assigned shifts. Assist with participant intake, orientations, bed assignments, and exits. Respond to participant concerns, conflicts, emergencies, and behavioral incidents. Complete incident reports, shift logs, and required documentation. Promote a respectful, participant-centered, trauma-informed environment. Conduct routine safety and security walkthroughs and report facility concerns. Assist with training and onboarding new staff and maintaining program compliance. What You'll Bring: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred. 2+ years of experience in homeless services, emergency shelter, residential programs, behavioral health, human services, or a related field. Experience mentoring, training, or providing work direction to others preferred. Strong communication, conflict resolution, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and holidays.
