Description

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a shelter, housing program, or similar human services environment. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective staff coordination and documentation.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities to address staffing, client, and operational challenges.
  • Leadership skills to guide and motivate a team while maintaining professionalism and accountability.
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools or software preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Availability to work across multiple sites and during varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
  • Ability to pass a police background check.
  • Support the staff by assisting with cleaning, cooking and any other general operational duties as required.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
Responsibilities

OPERATIONAL DUTIES:

  • Assist and coach staff with appropriate responses for daily operations, including guest interactions, crisis intervention, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Monitor compliance with organizational standards and report any issues or incidents to the Shelter Programs Manager.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation, including shift reports and incident logs.
  • Oversee the correct use of HIFIS and any reporting requested by management.
  • Ensure food safety, stock rotation and shelter supplies, including harm reduction supplies, are maintained.
