As a Sheltered Housing Officer, you’ll be a trusted presence in our housing schemes – supporting residents to live independently, feel safe and stay connected to their community. It’s a role where care, confidence and communication really matter – and where your everyday actions can make a lasting difference.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

You’ll have a calm and diplomatic approach to problem-solving, with the confidence to manage situations independently. Experience working in a customer-focused environment is essential, along with strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of people.
You’ll need to be organised, reliable and comfortable juggling different tasks. You’ll also be confident using computer systems and maintaining accurate digital records. We’re looking for someone who shares our values, understands the importance of equality and inclusion, and wants to make a positive difference every day.

Responsibilities

As a Sheltered Housing Officer, you’ll be the friendly, familiar face that residents know and trust. Based in one of our sheltered housing schemes, you’ll help older or more vulnerable residents feel safe, supported and part of the community – all while making sure the building is well-maintained and secure.
You’ll carry out regular checks of the communal areas and help residents report any issues within their homes. You’ll also help residents settle in, access support, and navigate services in the community. Whether you’re signposting help, solving everyday challenges or supporting someone with a tenancy issue, you’ll use your initiative to respond with care, professionalism and calm. You’ll work closely with carers, contractors and council teams, and you’ll play a vital role in making sure the scheme is clean, secure and welcoming.
You’ll often be working alone, so you’ll need to be confident in using your judgement and knowing when to escalate things. You’ll manage access to the building, keep accurate records, and monitor performance against housing management standards. Every day brings something new, and your efforts will help shape a safe, supportive environment where people feel at home.
