West Lancashire Borough Council is currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Sheltered Maintenance Assistant to join our Facilities Services Team based at the Westgate in Skelmersdale. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Strong understanding of building compliance, regulations, and current legislation.
• Proven experience in facilities maintenance, including fire safety systems and emergency call equipment.
• Ability to manage workload independently and respond effectively to maintenance needs.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence and access to transport.

• Carry out daily inspections of sheltered housing schemes and corporate buildings to ensure safety and compliance.
• Identify and report building repairs and maintenance issues, ensuring timely resolution.
• Test and maintain fire panels, smoke detectors, and welfare call systems.
• Liaise with contractors and internal teams to deliver planned and reactive maintenance works.
• Support residents and staff by maintaining safe, compliant, and welcoming communal environments.
