Description HOURS & SALARY: Part-Time, 18 hours per week, with a hiring range of $12.25-15.31 per hour depending on experience. JOB SUMMARY Shelvers keep the library running smoothly by shelving, organizing, and inspecting library items when returned so they're ready for the next patron. Shelvers participate in closing procedures, checking in materials, and working in the sort room as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Maintains patron confidentiality in compliance with Wyoming state law. 2. Provides directions or refers patrons to the appropriate staff as needed. 3. Shelves library materials, straightens and reads shelves to maintain accurate order, and removes damaged or worn items from circulation. 4. Shifts materials and requests signage updates as needed. 5. Checks in items using the sort system and collaborates with team members to ensure sort room coverage. 6. Troubleshoots computers and the sort system, reporting issues to IT Services and Facilities. 7. Completes closing duties according to established procedures. 8. Reports shelving issues to the appropriate staff or supervisor. 9. Performs other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS · At least 16-years old · Demonstrated ability to read · Demonstrated ability to file, or learn to file, alphabetically and numerically REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES · Accurate numerical and alphabetical filing skills. · Good time management and organizational skills. · Ability to work independently with limited supervision. · Ability to maintain a high volume and quantity of work. · Ability to learn a variety of software programs including word processing and integrated library systems. WORK SCHEDULE Work schedule will predominantly be normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or a variation thereof) Monday through Friday but may consist of weekend and evening hours as well. Anyone who works for the library must be willing to work anytime the library is open. Laramie County Library (Cheyenne) open hours are Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. All employees are scheduled to attend monthly staff meetings and in-service days in Cheyenne. BENEFITS · This position receives paid time off for 13 holidays, vacation and sick leave, and an annual personal day. · Employees are eligible to take vacation after six months of employment. · Employees may join the Cheyenne-Laramie County Employees Federal Credit Union. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Ability to move or manipulate moderately heavy equipment, boxes, carts, files, and stacks of materials from one location to another.
