Working Hours: 43.15 hours a week (12 hour shifts, day and night shifts)
Salary: Up to £47,500 dependent on experience (plus £9,500 shift allowance)

Responsibilities

As a Shift Charge Engineer, you will report to the Power Station Manager and be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Power Station Plant and its associated equipment. You will lead your shift team, ensuring seamless operations and responding swiftly to any emergencies. Your role will involve overseeing the operation and maintenance of the generating plant, boilers, district-heating systems, and bulk storage facilities. Taking charge of all Power House Complex operations, you will ensure continuous power supply while maintaining compliance with all safety and operational procedures.
In emergencies, you will have the authority to make critical decisions to safeguard power station operability. You will liaise closely with both the client and other operational teams on power distribution, heat management, and maintenance activities. Maintaining detailed records, including shift handover documentation, operational logs, and incident reports, will be essential to ensure smooth transitions and reliable reporting.
What you will need;
We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in power station operations or industrial plant engineering. Strong leadership and decision-making skills are essential, along with a comprehensive understanding of Health & Safety regulations, pressure systems, and electrical operations. The ability to manage high-pressure situations, solve problems efficiently, and communicate effectively will set you apart in this role.
You will work closely with the Power Station Manager and Deputy Manager, ensuring all activities align with operational standards and safety protocols.
You must be able to pass SC Clearance to be considered for this role.
You must be a British citizen to be considered for this role.
