Description
Overview Element has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Chemist (2nd Shift) to join our team. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for routine testing and analysis of metal alloys using a variety of advanced instrumentation. This includes ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma), AA (Atomic Absorption), OES (Optical Emission Spectroscopy), XRF-PMI (X-ray Fluorescence - Positive Identification), LECO gas analyzers, and Powder Characterization Units. The Chemist plays a critical role in ensuring test accuracy, maintaining equipment integrity, and delivering high-quality results to meet client and internal requirements. Salary: $26- $28/hr DOE + $3.00 shift differential Responsibilities • Prepare metal alloy samples for testing according to standard procedures.• Operate and maintain analytical instruments including ICP, AA, OES, XRF-PMI, andLECO gas analyzers.• Perform daily maintenance and ensure cleanliness of assigned equipment.• Conduct testing in accordance with Element’s procedures (EHB SOPs) to ensure quality,accuracy, and compliance.• Accurately interpret and document test data and results.• Complete tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail and test integrity.• Collaborate with team members to support productivity goals and continuousimprovement. Skills / Qualifications Skills/qualifications:• Associate degree in Chemistry or related field.• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a laboratory or testing environment, preferablyinvolving metal analysis.• Proficient in interpreting purchase order instructions, specifications, and technicaldrawings.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.• Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.• Demonstrates resilience and determination in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.• Effective verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Experience:• Familiarity with powder metallurgy and characterization techniques.• Previous experience in a materials testing or industrial laboratory setting. Work Environment:• This role is primarily performed in a laboratory environment with exposure to metalsamples, chemicals, and analytical instrumentation.• Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as lab coats, gloves, and safety glasses isrequired.• The position may involve standing for extended periods, handling samples andequipment, and occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs).• The laboratory environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven, requiring focus, attentionto detail, and strict adherence to safety and quality procedures.• Collaboration with team members and cross-functional departments is essential to meettesting timelines and client expectations Diversity Statement At Element, we always take pride in putting our people first.
