WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU:

We’re looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and skills:

  • Educational Background: A Level 3 or higher qualification in Chemistry or other Physical Sciences, along with good GCSEs in English and Maths.
  • Experience: Demonstrable experience in an analytical or testing role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using chemicals, cleaning agents, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
  • IT Skills: Excellent IT skills are essential.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Shift Chemist in our Analytical Services department, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our analytical results. You’ll operate a variety of analytical instruments both in the laboratory and on-line at our plant, supporting the Steelmaking and Blast Furnace manufacturing units in Scunthorpe.
Assisting in defining an analytical route for non-routine analysis and supporting plant trials you will also ensure that instrument performance and availability targets are attained.
You will ensure your work is completed in compliance with all HS&E requirements in the area on a real time basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include but are not limited to;

  • Operate and Maintain Instruments: Ensure the precision and reliability of results by operating and maintaining various analytical instruments.
  • Develop Analytical Methods: Create and refine analytical routes for non-routine analyses and support plant trials.
  • Meet Performance Targets: Consistently achieve instrument performance and availability targets.
  • Ensure Real-Time Compliance: Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) requirements in real-time
