We’re looking for a hands-on Shift Coordinator to support our specialised testing laboratory. This role is perfect for someone with strong lab experience who’s ready to take on a leadership position and mentor a small team during afternoon/evening operations.

The role:

  • Coordinate and monitor lab productivity, ensuring throughput and turnaround targets are met
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and training to technicians
  • Conduct and review advanced soil and rock tests
  • Prepare and check complex test reports for quality assurance
  • Maintain HSE standards and oversee equipment maintenance
  • Actively engage with clients and support the Lab Manager as needed
  • Salary Range: $77 500 - $80 000 + superannuation

Skills and experience required

  • Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (completed or in progress)
  • First Aid Certificate and strong IT literacy
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience in geotechnical or specialised testing preferred
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with leadership capability
  • Ability to develop and implement practical solutions to laboratory problems
  • Experience performing and recording results from a wide range of tests (e.g. compaction, Hilf, particle distribution)
  • Confidence preparing reports and verifying test data for signatory approval
  • Proven ability to monitor team performance and allocate tasks efficiently
