THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Shift Electrician in our Hot Strip Mill team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
You will join a cross functional team that ensures equipment operates and is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for quality and reliability. In this critical role, you will be able to use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes, whilst ensuring your safety and that of your colleagues is a priority.
This opportunity is a 12 month fixed-term position, with possibilities for future ongoing work in the department, or other areas of the Port Kembla Steelworks upon completion for the right applicant.

Responsibilities

With your proven understanding of industrial electrical systems, in this role you will:

  • follow the safe system of work and develop isolation instructions and job safety analysis for the required work
  • fault-find on electrical equipment including PLC’s, drives and instrumentation systems
  • perform safe, efficient and effective emergency repairs
  • perform equipment inspections, identify improvement opportunities and report on findings
