THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Shift Fitter in our Blast Furnace maintenance team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
You will join a cross-functional team that provides effective maintenance support to the No.5 and No.6 Blast Furnace business units and ensures equipment is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for quality and reliability. In this critical role, you will be the first point of call for maintenance issues and concerns and will assist with inspection of equipment while using your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes.
This is a shift position that also encompasses a shift relief component to alleviate the Mechanical shift maintenance team as required. You will initially work a 12-hour 24 x 7 rotating roster consisting of rotating days and night shifts, Monday through to Sunday to see out the completion of the No.6 Blast Furnace in mid-2026, upon completion hours/shift are subject to change.

You will apply your technical expertise to ensure that all mechanical equipment is maintained, as well as assisting with the surrounding Blast Furnace department requirements. You will:

  • isolate equipment and perform maintenance and repairs
  • inspect quality critical equipment and fault find
  • resolve issues and fix any non-conformances
  • seek ways to continuously improve our maintenance strategies
  • providing supply, stock and purchase requisitions, schedules, work orders, and parts listing via the use of the computerised maintenance management system (SAP
