Description Job Description The Shift Leader contributes to the success of Lofty Co. by assisting the General Manager in fostering a positive work environment and delivering outstanding service for our guests. The Shift Leader manages the day-to-day café operations, supports team members with essential duties and maintains high product quality and café standards. The Shift Leader role models Lofty guest service standards. People: Lead and motivate team members to deliver excellent service and achieve business goals. Align team members with company standards, initiatives and goals. Foster a positive work environment where each individual embodies Lofty’s Ethos Train new team members using lofty training tools to effectively perform in their role. Provide ongoing training and development to all team members in customer service, product knowledge and café operating standards. Participate in 15-minute check-ins with team members to address issues. Coach to improve team members’ performance issues using the coaching formula. Provide the general manager with information required for developmental plans and documentation. Attend weekly 1-hour meetings with the General Manager to review people, service and standards. Attend monthly meetings and cafe inspections with the general manager and area manager to review people, service and standards. Service: Act as a Brand Ambassador for Lofty Co. and deliver a positive guest experience Set high standards for the café to attract and retain guests Direct team and workflow to ensure that FOH and BOH team members are delivering exceptional service. Ensure that all Lofty recipes and procedures are followed. Educate all team members about our various coffees, teas, food and retail products Respond proactively to prevent customer services issues and resolve all guest issues with urgency and in a professional manner Key Responsibilities: Provide guidance and actively set a positive example for team members, ensuring that all Standard Operating Procedures are followed. Proficient on all Square POS functions including attention to detail taking guest orders, troubleshooting printers and other technical issues. Maintain proper coverage throughout the flow of service to meet business needs as well as ensuring team members are taking required breaks. Ensure that team members adhere to meal and break policy and dress code policies. Perform all front and back of house functions including but not limited to opening + closing procedures, maintaining cleanliness standards, preparing all food and beverage items to standards. Placing daily orders to all vendors, adjusting product pars as needed, performs cash handling procedures, performs daily checkouts and tip handling procedures. Take initiative and use tools and knowledge to solve maintenance issues. Actively responds and engages in company communication through the shift lead email. Communicates business essential information to the General Manager to positively impact the business. Takes initiative to proactively address business needs. Barista Essential Functions: Prepare beverages to Lofty standards following all drink recipes maintaining the highest quality Understand espresso extraction and be able to taste defects to adjust to correct accordingly Able to operate all coffee and brewing equipment proficiently Ability and knowledge to stay dialed to the Lofty espresso parameters throughout the entire shift Precise preparation and delivery of all beverages in a timely fashion. Maintain a clean workstation following company standards and guidelines FIFO guidelines: rotation of ALL PRODUCTS Display coffee sourcing, origin and coffee roast knowledge. Display thorough knowledge of all Lofty food, beverage and retail products Be mindful of any food allergies in relation to our product offerings Kitchen Essential Functions: Prepare all food to Lofty standards in accordance with the kitchen preparation binders. Able to operate all kitchen equipment proficiently Must have basic knife skills. Maintain clean workstation following company standards and guidelines FIFO guidelines: First-in = First-out rotation of food product to ensure freshness and proper sell-through Follow and enforce all safe food handling guidelines. Display thorough knowledge of all Lofty food, beverage and retail products Be mindful of any food allergies in relation to our product offerings Requirements Qualifications: 2 years+ of cafe, restaurant or retail management experience required. Proficient on a computer and proficient with software programs such as Microsoft Suite and Google Suite. Must have open availability and be able to work up to 40 hours a week, including weekends, evenings and special events as needed. Must have excellent verbal communication skills with guests, teammates and supervisors Must be able to work all shifts including weekends and holidays to support business needs Must be able to adhere to time and attendance policy by reporting to work on time for scheduled shifts Regularly required to lift and/or move items up to 100 lbs.
