JOB OVERVIEW

The purpose of the role is to manage, lead and develop a team of Support Workers to ensure the smooth running of the service day to day, adhering to the company’s ethos and mission statement. The role is vital in the development of the service and the service users within it. The role is a progressive one and has the potential to develop into a Deputy Manager role for the right individual.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 2–3 years of direct support work in LD/Mental Health settings
  • Previous role as a Senior Support Worker or Shift Leader
  • Experience leading shifts and delegating tasks
  • Administering medication and completing MAR charts
  • Managing safeguarding concerns and incident reporting
  • Writing or contributing to care plans and risk assessments
  • Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and best interest decisions

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

  • Involvement in CQC inspections or awareness of CQC standards
  • Mentoring or training new staff
  • Experience with rotas and staff allocation
  • Working in small care home environments (under 10 beds)
  • Supporting service users during admissions, discharges, or behavioural incidents
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: £25,060.00-£32,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and development of the service users by working with service users and staff on shift and model good practice.
  • Ensure the development of life skills and coping mechanisms for service users.
  • Develop and disseminate care documentation amongst the team.
  • Report incidents and signpost when necessary.
  • Supervise and induct support worker staff.
  • Order and monitor medication.
  • Ensure that all daily paperwork and daily checks are completed adhering to all regulations.
  • Perform the Registered Manager tasks when they are absent.
  • Complete petty cash monitoring and checks.
  • Monitor funded hours and hours via a weekly return form.
  • Liaise with family members daily/weekly.
  • Oversee the health and safety of the service.
    Complete weekly audits around specific areas such as infection control, COVID-19, first aid and medication.
