Flora is a Southern Italian restaurant and MICHELIN Bib Gourmand Award winner that brings the flavors of Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park to Park Slope, Brooklyn.
We’re looking for a kind, capable, and highly organized Shift Leader for our Dinner Shifts and Saturday Brunch. Reporting directly to the owners, you’ll help bring our warm, deeply personal style of hospitality to our neighbors in Brooklyn. Responsibilities

The Shift Leader oversees day-to-day operations, ensuring the restaurant runs smoothly from open to close. You’ll be the link between the kitchen and the dining room, the guests and the team — leading with calm, clarity, and care.

  • Daily Operations
  • Pre-Opening Checks: Arrive before the restaurant opens to inspect and ensure the dining areas are clean, well-maintained, and properly set up. Verify that fans and AC are set to the correct temperature, and that the entire space is comfortable for guests.
  • Facility and Equipment Checks: Inspect all indoor spaces, including refrigerators, kitchen equipment, coffee machine, dishwasher, toilets, and basement. Report any issues to the owners promptly.
  • Kitchen Preparedness: Ensure the kitchen staff is fully prepared for service and all necessary prep work is completed. Monitor food waste and enforce DOH compliance.
  • Beverage and Stock Management: Check that all drinks, including wines, are well-stocked and properly refrigerated. Receive and supervise supplier deliveries.
  • POS Check: Verify that the point of sale system is functioning correctly.
  • Team Leadership
  • Oversee all front-of-house and back-of-house staff before, during, and after service.
  • Foster a positive work culture with strong communication, accountability, and team morale.
  • Resolve personnel issues professionally and in alignment with labor laws.
  • Guest Experience & Hospitality
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality service and hospitality at every guest touchpoint.
  • Handle guest complaints and feedback with professionalism and kindness.
  • Maintain ambiance, cleanliness, and safety standards throughout the restaurant.
  • Serving/Clearing/Bartending
  • Coffee: Confidently operate and maintain the espresso machine and prepare high-quality coffee drinks to standard during service as needed.
  • Drinks: Make simple cocktails and confidently pour and serve wine during service as needed.
  • Serving/Table Resetting: Be ready to run plates and reset tables as needed.
  • Brand Representation & Culture
  • Menu and Wine Knowledge: Develop an extensive knowledge of the restaurant’s menu items and wine list to provide recommendations and answer customer inquiries.
  • Flora’s Philosophy: Become well-versed in the philosophy of the Flora brand, ensuring it’s reflected in all aspects of service.
