Job Summary:

The Shift Leader / Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the restaurant’s operations during assigned shifts, ensuring exceptional customer service, quality food preparation, and a well-coordinated team. This role involves supervising staff, handling customer interactions, maintaining restaurant standards, and assisting in various operational duties to ensure the restaurant runs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee restaurant operations during your shift, including dining room, carryout, and delivery services.
  • Supervise and coordinate servers, carryout, delivery drivers, and kitchen when necessary.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of orders for both dine-in and takeout/delivery customers.
  • Address customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and presentation to maintain high standards.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and end-of-shift reports.
  • Ensure that all health, safety, and cleanliness standards are met during your shift.
  • Help train new employees and provide guidance to existing staff to ensure high performance.
  • Monitor inventory and assist in placing orders for food, beverages, and supplies as needed.
  • Ensure the restaurant complies with local health and safety regulations, including maintaining proper certifications.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree is preferable.
  • 1-2 years of experience in supervisor/manager positions (preferably restaurant experience, including full service, fast food, or convenience store).
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating effectively with customers and co-workers.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with restaurant health and safety standards.
  • Basic knowledge of financial responsibilities, such as cash handling and inventory management.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a pizzeria is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Chicago’s local restaurant scene and customer preferences.
