POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Shift Manager will run a 12-hour shift and looking after safety, quality production and spoilage.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe working practices are adhered to at all times and good housekeeping and safety awareness is continuously improved in the work area and throughout the team
  • Meet Production, Quality, Spoilage and environmental improvement targets as set by the Senior leadership team, the Continuous Improvement teams and the Plant budget
  • Investigate and report equipment and process defects promptly and use the team and outside assistance to identify and undertake corrective action to prevent re-occurrence
  • Drive continuous improvements in the team to minimise the costs in the plant and liase with the engineering department to ensure all maintenance work is completed to their satisfaction and continually look for methods to reduce breakdowns
  • Ensure standardisation of equipment setting and operation to achieve the required specification and product quality
  • Promote and maintain good industrial relations, identify training needs for the team. Provide and organise training to ensure the team is competent in all aspects of their jobs
  • Monitor, control and communicate the performance of the team within and outside the team and ensure corrective action is taken, as required, for all equipment and operational problems/potential problems to continuously improve the operation
  • Ensure effective use of materials, identify programmes to improve usage and minimise waste
  • Ensure adequate training, Leadership motivation and corrective feedback to the Shift Team for who they are responsible
  • Actively seek and follow up on Shift Team’s ideas and suggestion and assist in driving change through continuous improvement in the plant
  • Operate effectively with other Shift Manager to control the overall performance of the plant
