Pet Food Required Shift: 12 Hour rotating shifts Shift rotates between days (7am- 7:30pm) and nights (7pm- 7:30am) Additional information will be addressed during the interview process Job Purpose: The Shift Manger is a shift-based, front-line supply and operations people leader with high drive for engagement and responsible for delivering safety, quality, continuous improvement, performance management, training, associate development, transformation and change, team engagement and operating results for their assigned area. What we are looking for: Minimum Requirements: BASc Eng, BASc Food Science, or BSc preferred. Operational management principles and competencies. Understanding of applicable laws (OHS, ESA, MOL). Lean business practices. Demonstrated ability to lead and drive change. Read, write, speak and understand English Physical Requirements: Frequent handling/gripping/bending/stooping. Ability to work at elevated heights off a ladder or platform, climb stairs, leaning over equipment. Ability to stand and / or work on feet for extended periods Ability to work in varies manufacturing environments and non-temperature-controlled rooms. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 5 years manufacturing leadership experience. Previous people management experience Petfood, food, beverage or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices What will your key responsibilities be? Responsible for a team of approx. 17 associates, leading the safety, quality, cost and training agenda for their shift/crew. Educate, promote, and develop team operational mindset around efficiency, safety, quality, and service. Leverage MSE processes to sustain or improve the performance of several machines, and modular areas within the factory. Escalate issues in alignment with protocol and ensure follow through on actions, give full and accurate verbal and written handover. Lead problem solving activities within shift, focused on top losses. Drive a high level of associate engagement within team; develop associates through the PDP program; address performance issues in a timely manner and provide recognition of exceptional performance. Reduces changeover and sanitation times through lean tools. Drives site continuous improvement initiatives and projects using shift resources in conjunction with site engineering and CI resources. Support business systems development by ensuring all systems transactions are completed, accurate and reported at end of shift. Provides direction for third-party temps, contractors, and vendors. Execute Shift Manager standard daily work. Responsible for following all Quality and Food Safety Policies and applicable procedures.
