We are looking for a full-time shift manager/senior barista at the Penny Pot Cafe in Edale. Specific regular shifts will be allocated and availability for regular weekend work is a must. Staff are also expected to be open to cover other shifts where necessary.
The cafe caters primarily to hikers, cyclists and outdoorsy types (and locals of course!) and can get very busy during the summer season, so we are looking for someone enthusiastic who likes a chat, and can work well in a busy environment. You’ll be joining a friendly team who are passionate about creating a positive environment for both staff and customers - so we welcome candidates that are keen to get stuck in!
The ideal candidate will have an interest in coffee, and will be keen to work with us to maintain a good standard of drinks making within the team.
Responsibilities include:
- Staff management on shift when the general manager is not present.
- Understanding of the setup of the coffee machine (Rancilio Classe 11 USB Xcelsius) and grinder (Mahlkonig E80S Grinder+ puq).
- Knowledge of the drinks menu.
- Cash handling and using the till.
- Keeping the cafe customer area clean and ensuring displays are regularly stocked up.
- Pot washing.
- Helping motivate the team.
- Greeting customers and maintaining a friendly environment.
Working hours over summer are between 7 30am - 6 pm Monday to Friday, and 7 30am - 7 pm on weekends, with shorter hours during late autumn/winter.
Training and positions are available immediately, previous relevant experience required.
