OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN - POWER STATION

East London | £50,000 - £55,000 + Bonus & Benefits | 12-hour shifts (days & nights)
Are you an experienced Operations Technician looking for your next challenge in the power generation sector?
We’re recruiting for an Operations Technician to join the operations team at a CHP power station in East London, where you’ll play a key role in keeping the plant running safely, efficiently, and reliably.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

• Operational experience in Power Generation (steam experience preferred), or transferable heavy industry experience.
• Candidates from Royal Navy / Military engineering backgrounds are welcome to apply.
• Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards.
• A detail-oriented team player with good communication skills.

• Start up, shut down, and monitor gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, pumps, water treatment plant, and heat exchangers via the DCS control system.
• Diagnose plant issues and carry out first-line maintenance, reporting defects to the Shift Team Leader.
• Perform routine operational checks, plant testing, and inspections.
• Supervise contractors working on site.
• Support other departments (Mechanical, Electrical, C&I) when required.
• Undertake projects to build knowledge and enhance plant performance.
• Ensure all activities are carried out with the highest regard for health, safety, and environmental compliance.
