Shift Supervisor Position Description The Kibali Gold Mine Team is seeking to recruit Shift Supervisor to join and grow our team. Responsibilities: Supervising and directing underground development, drill / blast and haulage crews. Assigning daily tasks based on the mine plan and ensuring all activities are completed efficiently. Monitoring worker performance, providing coaching, and enforcing company policies. Conducting pre-shift meetings to discuss work plans, safety updates, and equipment status. Ensuring all mining activities adhere to mine safety regulations, company policies, and local laws. Conducting workplace inspections to identify and mitigate hazards such as unstable ground, poor ventilation, and equipment malfunctions. Investigating incidents, near misses, or equipment failures and reporting findings to management. Ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforcing safety protocols. Coordinating drilling, blasting, mucking, and haulage operations to maintain production targets. Ensuring proper use of mining equipment, including jumbo drills, LHDs, haul trucks and IT’s. Troubleshooting operational challenges and making real-time decisions to keep production on track. Ensuring ground support installation (rock bolts, shotcrete, wire mesh, etc.) is completed as per engineering standards. Verifying that ventilation, dewatering, and power systems are functioning correctly. Coordinating with maintenance teams to ensure all machinery is in working order and addressing breakdowns promptly. Liaising with mine managers, engineers, and other supervisors to align shift activities with overall mine planning. Preparing shift reports detailing production progress, equipment status, safety incidents, and any operational challenges. Communicating with incoming shift supervisors to ensure smooth handovers and continuity of operations. Leading emergency response efforts in case of accidents, fires, rockfalls, or ventilation failures. Making quick, informed decisions to resolve unexpected issues underground. Work in compliance with ISO 14001 and 45001 Standards. Responsibilities
The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for supervising and directing underground development, drill/blast, and haulage crews, assigning daily tasks according to the mine plan, and ensuring efficient completion of all activities. Key duties include monitoring performance, enforcing safety policies, conducting pre-shift meetings, and ensuring all mining activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
