Job Description
The Communications and Signaling team is seeking shift supervisors to support the inspection, maintenance, and repair of our communications infrastructure. Shift Supervisors lead a team of technicians, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and meeting Metro’s quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong leadership and communications skills with experience providing leadership or mentorship to peers. Experience in a supervisory role is preferred but not required!

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education

  • Associate degree or vocational/technical school degree in Engineering or Electronics.

Minimum Experience

  • Four years of Communications, Signaling, or other electronics maintenance experience

Minimum Certification/Licensure

  • A valid motor vehicle operator’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Electronics.

SUMMARY

The Shift Supervisor, Communications and Signaling Maintenance is responsible for supervising the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of the communications and signaling systems of the Authority within established guidelines.

Responsibilities

Principal Job Duties

  • Supervises on shift basis, assigned maintenance personnel performing maintenance inspection, and repair of assigned equipment.
  • Schedules work assignments according to priority, monitors progress through the satisfactory completion of work.
  • Implements Communications and Signaling Maintenance Control Plan and operating and safety rules and regulations.
  • Monitors the Maintenance Management System (e.g., MAXIMO) for work completion and opens work orders.
  • Responds to incidents and provides updates to management.
  • Monitors employee performance and provides appropriate correction as needed.

Other Duties

  • Provides input on department improvement initiatives.
  • Requisitions materials, parts and tools, and ensures their proper use and care.
  • Operates an Authority vehicle as required.
  • Maintains and promotes awareness and accountability with safety policies and procedures while performing job functions. Promotes a positive safety culture and encourages reporting of safety concerns consistent with our Agency Safety Plan, other regulatory requirements within the Safety Management System and just culture principles.
