POSITION SUMMARY:

The Shift Supervisor is the front-line leader bearing significant responsibility for the safety, productivity, and behaviors of all hourly production employees on their shift. They are ultimately held accountable for the overall performance level of their shift in the following areas:

  • Achieving team wide compliance to Quality, Health, and Safety standards in the production environment.
  • Setting and achieving a shift production plan.
  • Sustaining critical production floor systems (DMP, ASA, 5S, Visual Scheduling, etc).
  • Improving Employee Engagement

As a front-line leader, the Shift Supervisor must use strong communication skills and the systems at their disposal to engage the hearts and minds of their team and create a culture of continuous improvement.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2 years of previous supervisory experience in manufacturing
  • Strong leadership, supervisory and communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of production and safety management, occupational health and safety and employment standards legislation.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001/TS16949/CSA Z299.3 compliant quality systems.
  • Knowledge of World Class manufacturing techniques such as Kaizen, Six Sigma, JIT, Lean, TQM, KanBan, COQ, ERP, etc.
  • Minimum High School education, College certificate preferred.
  • JHSC Certification, APICS Certificate in Production and Inventory Management, SMS Certification. - preferred

Responsibilities

DUTIES:

Quality, Health, and Safety
1. Conduct daily Advanced Safety Audit and Layered Process Audit.
2. Reporting of all HSE Incidents during shift using IR Database.
3. Support NCR Disposition Process.
4. Ensure adherence to site HSE policy and procedures.
5. Ensure adherence to manufacturing process standards Quality System procedures.
6. Maintain an active role in the JHSC.
7. Ensure 5S housekeeping standards are maintained and improved.
Production Management:
8. Establish and Communicate Shift Production Objectives
9. Establish Manpower Assignments
10. Perform standardized work
a. DMP Meeting
b. Gemba Walk
c. Process Assessment
d. 5S Assessment
11. Immediate Problem Solving for QHSE or Production Issues.
12. Support New Process/Product launch initiatives.
13. Ensure adherence to Materials (Inventory) Management procedures.
14. Maintain ERP system Accuracy
15. Prepare and process shipping documentation.
16. Create Purchase Orders for none-inventory production parts.
17. Manage Cure Box reporting and documentation.
Human Resources
18. Maintain positive labour relations by building employee morale and ensuring Mattr HR policies are applied fairly and consistently.
19. Manage Hourly Payroll Documentation.
20. Manage Employee training Process.
21. Manage Employee Suggestion and Recognition systems.
22. Conduct Annual Employee Performance Evaluations.
