All that we’re missing is you. Apply today! About the role We are seeking a Shift Engineer to oversee the safe and efficient operation of our steam plant during assigned shifts. This role is critical to maintaining plant reliability, safety, and environmental compliance. It also offers a strong career pathway into roles such as Operations Manager, Facilities Manager, Maintenance Manager, or Mechanical Supervisor. A $20,000 sign‑on bonus is available. Key Responsibilities Monitor the fuel processing system and operate boilers, turbines, and other steam plant equipment throughout the shift. Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental permits, and operating procedures. Approve equipment removal for maintenance, issue safety permits, and oversee clearance processes. Lead and train shift personnel to maintain a skilled, flexible, and safety‑focused workforce. Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate maintenance activities. Respond to emergencies and direct appropriate actions to maintain safe operations. Maintain required state and site licenses and certifications. Participate in projects to improve plant performance and efficiency. Qualifications Must obtain a Massachusetts Second‑Level Engineer’s License within 18 months. Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or engineering experience in heavy industrial, power generation, or resource recovery environments. Hands‑on experience with high‑pressure boilers, steam turbines, and electric generating equipment. Familiarity with instrumentation and control systems used in steam plant operations. Ability to work rotating shifts and perform physical tasks, including climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working at heights or in confined spaces. Ability to wear a full‑face respirator and work in various weather conditions. High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is preferred. Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future. The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $108,900.00 - $155,600.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
