Description

The Shift Team leader ensures that the complex area under their direction is operated in a safe, environmentally sound, reliable and economically efficient manner in accordance with company and refinery policies and applicable laws. The STL will: Work with Operations Director, Complex Manager, Operation Superintendents, other departments and complex areas to optimise unit operations in a safe, efficient and environmentally sound manner. Supervise, train and develop the shift team. Conduct a comprehensive shift handover at the start and end of each shift. Complete the STL Electronic Shift Communication Log. Review the Daily Refinery Operating Programme and Daily Operating Instructions (DOIs), ensuring all directives are followed. Maintain thorough daily operation notes in the shift turnover log and lead a structured shift relief process to ensure clear communication of essential information between shifts. Be responsible for the Monthly SOX compliance checks on hydrocarbon storage tanks. Undertake all required audits according to the PCS12 (Management System Audit) schedule. Ensure shift objectives are completed to a high standard. Be a safety leader, enforce safety expectations for the shift team and ensure compliance with all safety procedures. Lead regular team safety meetings to reinforce safety practices. Initiate EHSM items for variances and follow up on the initial investigation to identify root cause. Lead EHSM investigations and implement solutions. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferably be qualified to Control Operator level as a minimum. Previous experience as an Acting Shift team Leader (ASTL) of other supervisory experience is desirable. Level 4 Eclipse qualified. Be fully conversant in all areas of the Valero Safety Excellence Program (VSEP) and be capable of leading investigations and implementing solutions in EHSM. Knowledge and experience of Health and Safety Legislation, approved codes of practice and guidance notes is essential. Experience in operational procedures and guidelines for the complex area is essential. Proficient in using Microsoft Office programs, Operations Excellence System, Eclipse permit system, EHSM, Intelatrac and XHQ Solution viewer. This is a full-time site based role.
