Description
This position is an essential role in fast paced environment that requires thinking quickly and effectively while maintaining a positive attitude. The Shipfitter is a skilled tradesperson who assembles, fits, and repairs the metal structural components of ships and other vessels. The primary responsibility of the Shipfitter is reading blueprints, cutting and shaping metal, tack welding, and installing parts like hatches and doors, and they require strong metalworking, welding, and blueprint-reading skills.  We are looking for someone with the ability to operate and /or use related equipment and tools which include stick, wire feed, TIG, forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders (portable & bench), cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, a tape measure, etc.  Be a part of a great company with comprehensive benefits package and a great work culture! Responsibilities * Fitting and alignment: Aligns and braces parts in position before they are permanently joined. * Fabrication and assembly: Cuts, bends, and shapes metal plates and other structural components to fit the vessel's design. * Welding: Tack welds components into place to hold them steady before final welding is completed by other welders. * Welding: Tack welds components into place to hold them steady before final welding is completed by other welders. * Other duties as assigned Requirements  * 5+ year experience as a shipfitter. * You are currently working but would like to take advantage of this opportunity with PMG to upgrade your career. * Ability to weld SMAW, GMAW, FCAW. * Ability to pass ABS Welding Test 1-3G, 4G. * Strong spatial skills, physical stamina, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read blueprints are essential. * Proficient use of tools like cutting torches, grinders, and measuring devices, as well as shop machinery like plate rolls and bending brakes. Physical Demands * Must be able to lift 60 lbs. without restriction. Position involves lifting, pulling, and operating heavy equipment and objects. * Agility to bend, stoop, or squat, and climb high steps/ladders frequently. * Physical dexterity and strength to operate deck machinery; work on equipment that is poorly accessible or in confined workspaces. * Must be able to keep balance/equilibrium while performing duties at various heights. * Ability to work in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time. * Adequate hearing & vision ability. * Proper heat/cold tolerance, working in all weather conditions. * Comfortable working while exposed to grease, dirt, paint, water, etc. Benefits * Sick and vacation package * Paid Holidays * Company PAID health benefits (medical, dental, vision and life insurance)  * 401K with Company Match  * Additional voluntary benefits like, FSA, Aflac products, additional life insurance, etc. * Year-end bonus opportunity.
