Position Title: Shipper / Receiver
Location: Dartmouth, NS

Position Summary:
The Shipper / Receiver will be responsible for the timely and accurate receiving and storage of equipment and other goods from suppliers and picking orders for transfer to company sales vans and shipping to customers. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for all receiving, storage and shipping of equipment and supplies
  • Determine method of shipment and arrange shipping
  • Prepare bills of lading, customs forms, invoices and other shipping documents manually or by computer
  • Assemble containers and crates, record contents manually or in a computer system, pack goods to be shipped and affix identifying information and shipping instructions
  • Oversee loading and unloading of goods from trucks or other conveyances
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods
  • Unpack, code and route goods to appropriate storage areas
  • Maintain internal, manual or computerized record-keeping systems
  • Operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods
  • Assist with inside sales tasks
  • Assist with monitoring of inventory management systems to track stock levels, orders, deliveries, and sales.
  • Assist with regular physical inventory audits and reconciliation of discrepancies.
  • Effectively communicate with other staff to ensure clarity of receiving and delivery schedules, quality requirements, and other critical aspects.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in inventory management.

Qualifications:

  • Driver’s license: Valid driver’s license required
  • Experience: Related experience preferred, but not required
  • Skills:
  • Forklift operation (training can be provided)
  • Good communication skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
