POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Shipper receiver will work closely with the shop Foreman and Materials coordinator and is responsible for all aspects of Shipping & receiving. This includes but is not limited to raw material receiving and unloading, parts and assembly’s deliveries to vendors for external processing, material handling, finished goods deliveries, yard organization and all shipping and receiving documentation and paperwork.

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in steel industry or heavy equivalent heavy industry in regards to loading and unloading raw lengths of lineal stock and plate of various thicknesses and large scale completed fabricated parts.
  • Fork lift certification
  • BC Driver’s license class 5, with reliable transportation.
  • Experience and knowledge of overhead cranes for loading and unloading
  • Familiar with documentation requirements for US bond orders
  • Knowledge of light equipment operation
  • Microsoft office suite, Microsoft Dynamics ERP program (internal training available)
  • Able to maintain quality and safety control standards
  • Knowledge and understanding of receiving standards and practices.
  • Able to identify dimensions and weights on parts, assemblies and general arrangement drawings
  • Ability to read and write English fluently
  • Ability to assess risk and act accordingly
  • Efficient and attentive to details, carry out instructions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to function as a team member; interact and work well with others as well as to function independently and prioritize duties
  • Able to physically lift up to 50 lbs, and recognizing the need for help
    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
    Pay: $24.00-$28.50 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Book transportation based on best business practices, dimension and weight restrictions and location
  • Organize a load on a trailer for best space utilization
  • Use internal ERP for all shipping receiving paperwork and documentation
  • Sourcing freight quotes and tracking existing orders
  • Use fork lift and overhead crane for loading and unloading
  • Assemble packaging and crates as needed, identifying information and shopping instructions
  • Maintain inventory integrity and product safety
  • Checking dimensions and quantiles of items or parts arriving and verify incoming material against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject/ Quarantine damaged goods.
  • Unpack and route material to appropriate storage/ kitting areas.
  • Monitor shipping supplies, and submit items for reorder
  • Maintain a safe and clean yard.
  • Strive for zero downtime operation
  • Perform and record daily forklift inspections. Report any issues to Supervisor
