POSITION OVERVIEW / SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Shipping Administrator’s main objective is ensuring that all shipping and receiving documents are completed accurately and in a timely fashion.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assure orders and shipping quantities match picking documents, resolve any discrepancies
- Answer / route all telephones calls in a polite manner, taking messages
- Create back orders for items shipped short
- Initiates, answers and documents tracer inquiries when requested
- Maintains shipping office in working order and stock with materials and supplies
- Processes necessary invoices to appropriate office for payment
- Prepare accurate bills of lading for outbound through management systems
- Gather, input and maintain all data and records relative to shipping and receiving activities, along with Pre-trip inspections for equipment (Forklift & Trucks)
- Coordinate service for forklift and dump bin pickups, while creating purchase orders for service, work, or products ordered
- Help with or complete special projects at the discretion of the Shipping Supervisor
- Assist with booking out-of-town cartage, couriers, or ferry bookings
- Participate in semi-annual inventory counts
- Other duties as assigned by Management
Knowledge, Skills, Ability and/or Education: Excellent phone customer service when dealing with customers regarding shipments
- Proficient computer skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
- Strong interpersonal skills, multitasking, problem solving and ability to stay calm in stressful and time sensitive situations
- Previous building supplies and lumber experience an asset
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English language, with strong mathematical skills
Working Conditions: Sitting for long periods of time
- Exposure to noise; loud printer, multiple conversations and radio calls.
- Potential mental fatigue due to attention to detail
- Temperatures in winter can be cooler than usual in shipping office
- Primarily Monday to Friday position, but will have extended hours or weekends required during busy periods throughout the year.
Compensation: Benefits and RRSP match after 3 months’ probation is successfully completed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
