Description Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Assistant Job Type: Full-time Location: Chesapeake, VA Seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving (S&R) Assistant to join our team. The S&R Assistant supports the Shipping and Receiving Manager with daily operations and can also work independently in a timely and cost-effective/efficient manner. Requirements Responsibilities: Receives, logs, stages, and/or documents delivered material, equipment, property, and supplies for distribution Performs basic quality inspections and reports non-conforming/damaged material as required Prepares commercial/Mil-Spec paperwork and packaging for the shipment of material, equipment, property, and supplies IAW applicable Mil-Spec standards or best commercial practices; to include crate construction to contract specification Prepares/inspects outbound shipments for conformity to purchase order specifications or as directed by shipping instructions Inputs/extracts data to/from Sage X3, Vendor Shipping Module, Wide Area Work Flow, and other related platforms to perform shipping functions Assists in maintaining and creating shipping and receiving records and logs Performs standard safety and basic maintenance checks on and operates warehouse related vehicles and mechanized handling equipment. Make deliveries and pick-ups when requested Other job duties as assigned Additional Skills and Other Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Must have a valid drivers license & acceptable motor vehicle record Must be able to pass a background check (to access military installations and/or shipyards, as needed) Basic math skills and understanding of weights and dimensions are a must Must be comfortable working with power tools for basic carpentry/crate building tasks Attention to detail, organized, and able to multitask Ability to work as part of a team and take the initiative to work independently Safety It is SCI’s policy to require safe operations and practices from all employees and to ensure our management team focuses on maintaining a safe working environment even while working in hazardous work environments. Environment This job operates in a warehouse environment with various noise levels and hot or cold temperatures with minimum climate control.
