FMI’s manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles.
Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA’s Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles.
Your role: FMI is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Coordinator who will perform all necessary tasks to receive, transport, package, and ship materials to support our customers and vendors.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years relevant experience and/or training
  • Proficient in FEDEx, UPS, and other trucking company websites/portals for entering shipments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to function in a group
  • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment/assignments
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all peers and managers/supervisors
  • Ability to solve problems in an effective manner
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving environment as well as equipment used
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with a team and independently when required

Responsibilities
  • Packing finished goods in preparation for shipment
  • Building shipping crates from blue prints or other written/verbal instruction
  • Schedule trucking companies for outgoing shipments
  • Follow all DOT & IATA regulations for shipping hazardous materials
  • Follow all procedures and guidelines for International Export of products
  • Maintain necessary shipping records, logging daily shipments in a SharePoint database
  • Examine contents of incoming material shipments and compare invoices, packing lists, and purchase orders to verify accuracy
  • Perform basic quality inspections on incoming materials
  • Distribute received products and materials throughout the facility
  • Maintain receiving records
  • Operate fork trucks and other mechanical lifts to pick, put away, and transport materials
  • Drive company vehicles between FMI’s two Biddeford locations for transport of materials
  • Daily use of computer including ERP/material management system and Microsoft Office applications
  • Expected to follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
  • Expected to participate in Lean activities
  • Expected to maintain all housekeeping items and follow all housekeeping procedures
