QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, or supply chain operations, ideally within the lumber, sawmill, wholesale, or large retail lumber yard sector.
  • Basic knowledge of lumber terms and lumber grading standards.
  • Forklift operation experience; valid certification preferred.
  • Strong background in inventory management and documentation.
  • Ability to introduce and implement new ideas and systems to improve departmental efficiency.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail orientation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Customer service oriented, with a track record of maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on yard environment.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee all shipping and receiving operations across multiple divisions, including kiln drying, fire safety treatment, and painting services.
  • Manage the shipping and receiving department to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient movement of products.
  • Implement and improve systems, processes, and procedures to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Coordinate logistics for inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with safety and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and oversee inventory control processes.
  • Provide hands-on support in the yard, including forklift operation as required.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and documentation of lumber products.
  • Collaborate with other departments to meet customer delivery schedules and resolve shipping issues.
  • Lead and mentor shipping staff, promoting a safe, efficient, and customer-oriented environment.
  • Maintain strong customer service focus, ensuring consistent communication with clients and partners.
