Description JOB SUMMARY The Shipping & Receiving Specialist supports the full flow of materials and finished goods throughout the facility, ensuring products move accurately and efficiently from arrival to final shipment. This role manages incoming and outgoing freight, verifies documentation, maintains inventory accuracy, and ensures materials are staged and stored properly to support daily production needs. The position plays a key role in meeting customer delivery expectations by maintaining organized work areas, upholding FIFO practices, and communicating effectively with Scheduling, Quality, and Production teams. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this fastpaced environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Include the following other duties may be assigned. Shipping, Receiving &Material Handling Accurately stages, ships, and receives all incoming and outgoing products, ensuring correct quantities, labeling, and documentation. Manages the interplant shipping and receiving schedule, coordinating timing with internal departments to maintain production flow. Operates a Hi-Lo or hand jack to safely move skids, pallets, and materials to designated locations throughout the facility. Completes all required shipping, receiving, and inventory paperwork with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Places all finished goods inventory into the proper storage locations, following established procedures and inventory controls. Maintains the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) system for all products to ensure proper rotation and minimize aging or obsolete inventory.Shipping, Receiving & Material Handling Accurately stages, ships, and receives all incoming and outgoing products, ensuring correct quantities, labeling, and documentation. Coordination &Communication Works closely with Scheduling to understand daily production requirements and ensure materials and finished goods are available when needed. Collaborates with the Quality department on all incoming inspection requirements, ensuring nonconforming materials are identified and routed appropriately. Assists with the organization and upkeep of the nonconforming material area, ensuring items are clearly labeled and segregated. Maintains and updates shipment boards and visual management tools to ensure accurate, real-time communication across departments. Demonstrates a strong understanding of scheduling requirements for well-established customers, supporting on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. Inventory Management Manages and performs inventory cycle counting activities, investigating discrepancies, identifying root causes, and supporting corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Ensures all inventory movements—receipts, transfers, adjustments, and shipments—are recorded accurately in. Assists in maintaining and improving warehouse management systems (WMS), including bin locations, barcode scanning, and digital tracking tools. Ensures FIFO (FirstIn, FirstOut) practices are consistently followed to minimize aging inventory and maintain product quality. Identifies slowmoving, obsolete, or nonconforming inventory and works with leadership to determine appropriate disposition. Participates in physical inventory events, preparing areas, validating counts, and reconciling variances. Helps maintain a clean, safe, and wellorganized warehouse environment that supports efficient workflow and meets safety standards. Scheduling Support Must be able to cover duties for the Scheduler when needed, including the use of computer software, email communication, and basic scheduling functions. Provides backup support during absences or peak workload periods to ensure uninterrupted scheduling operations. Facility & Safety Responsibilities Assists in keeping the plant clean and organized, including sweeping and general housekeeping during downtime. Comply with all federal and state safety standards, following established procedures for equipment operation and material handling. Adheres to all housekeeping standards to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. General Performs other duties as assigned to support production, logistics, and overall plant operations. Qualifications Work experience: Office Furniture Industry is a plus. Education: High School Diploma. Computer skills: proficient with Microsoft office, ERP Systems, preferably NetSuite. Organization skills: excellent organizational ability to multi-tasking and shift priorities as needed. Cross-functional skills: ability to work well cross-functionally with the IDTs; provides excellent internal and external customer service. Communication skills: excellent written and verbal skills; strong interpersonal skills; ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information.
